We’re looking for an inspirational Head of Marketing with the creativity and ingenuity to transform a market leader. This is a crucial role for DB Cargo UK – a UK top 3 rail freight haulier, backed by the €18 billion DB Group. And if you’re not excited by change, you can stop reading here.
This isn’t a “business as usual” role. We don’t want someone to keep things ticking over. Working in a complex, fast-moving market, the challenge is to challenge the status quo: to explore new opportunities and to push commercial boundaries.
The logistics sector is complex and changing. Much will hinge on your ability to collect and analyse market, customer and competitor intelligence, both in DB Cargo UK’s existing market and most importantly potential new sectors. You’ll need to ‘paint the target’ for the sales teams to drive revenue growth. You’ll be exploring unchartered territory, so the key here will be your ability to work in a collaborative way, inspiring colleagues in sales, customer service (and the wider business) to join you on that journey.
You’ll report to Head of Sales and lead a multi-disciplinary team who work across functions.
Put simply, you’re creative, a strategic thinker, and can manage change. We’re looking for evidence that shows you’ve successfully initiated and implemented new approaches to market with a large company and, ideally, internationally. We’ll be expecting to see an impressive return on investment and revenue growth figures too.
Personally, you’ll need to convince us you’re collaborative, charismatic and able to motivate and manage a multi-disciplinary team via a combination of coaching and clarity of objectives.
Day in day out, DB Cargo UK runs hundreds of trains the length and breadth of Britain, delivering freight for customers in sectors including building materials, consumer goods, automotive and metals. Employing almost 4000 people, they lead the UK rail freight market.
They’re backed by the DB Group, which combines all the transport and logistics activities of Deutsche Bahn and Arriva, employing over 88,000 people across 2,000 locations in about 130 countries.
