Oxford Farming Conference - Embracing Change
12 January 2018
At the beginning of January 2018, Hanover Fox International Consultants Peter Fenton, Charlie van Exter and Richard Langton attended the annual Oxford Farming Conference.
One of the main themes at this year’s conference was how new technology and innovation is transforming the rural sector. New technologies are helping tackle the issues around labour shortages, time frames, yields and food science. It is also helping open up the rural economy to a new generation of younger farmers, looking to maximise the use of technology and innovation within their work.
Commenting on his experience at the Oxford Farming Conference, Hanover Fox Partner Peter Fenton said:
“The conference certainly lived up to its expectations for embracing change. There were a number of fantastic presentations, with two which stood out being - Duncan McConchie, who looked at how a diversification from agriculture to a visitor destination is helping to create economic sustainability. Secondly, Kit Franklin showed how technology is making major steps forward into arable farming and helping address some of the modern challenges in agriculture.”
